Artist's Description
My sister owns a tiny converted carriage house nestled behind several houses. She established a small Koi pond in her tiny back yard. Sitting by it sipping coffee, watching the water swirl and fish swim brings such tranquility.
The blue of the sky is reflected on the water�s surface creating interesting shapes as the water and fish move. Light bounces up off the pebbles on the bottom as well as off the fish. A lily bud is about to surface and start opening.
About Susan Sarabasha
Growing up in Brooklyn, I spent part of most summers on the beach but really fell in love with the natural world and animals when my parents started sending me to the 'wilds' of New Jersey for summer camp. The inspiration for my work still remains Nature’s mysteries and beauties. I completed my undergraduate education at Alfred University and Empire State College, majoring in Engineering and Art, and received an MFA in Illustration, from Syracuse University, specializing in natural science and technical illustration. Over the years, I have worked with a variety of materials, including hand painted silk art quilts, pastels and colored pencil drawings.
